New Cross Central
New Cross Central is a residential development delivering a collection of high-quality homes in the heart of the evolving New Cross neighbourhood. Located between the Northern Quarter and Ancoats, the scheme sits in a part of the city where older industrial character and new residential life meet.
The development comprises 80 one, two and three-bedroom homes, including individual townhouses, distinctive penthouses, and a range of apartments. The architecture takes clear cues from Manchester’s industrial heritage, with a robust red-brick exterior and exposed concrete finishes internally. The result is a building that feels rooted in its surroundings rather than imposed on them.
At the centre of the scheme is a landscaped communal courtyard designed to bring residents together and provide a shared outdoor space away from the street. Several homes also benefit from private terraces, with views back towards the city centre, adding to the sense of openness and connection to Manchester beyond the site itself.
DEX built New Cross Central. FEC was the developer. The project required careful coordination and attention to detail, particularly given its urban location and the mix of different home types within a single development. From structure through to finishes, the focus was on build quality, durability, and creating homes that work well day to day.
New Cross Central is a compact scheme, but it plays an important role in the wider regeneration of the area. By introducing new homes into a well-connected city-centre fringe location, it supports the continued growth of a neighbourhood that is already known for its character, creativity, and sense of place.
